Our company was established by Gregory Schaefer, a super-fun American chef from California.
Having lived in this beautiful Basque city for over a decade, Gregory wanted to help visitors experience the region’s incredible culinary culture.

Gregory leads our daily walking food tours in San Sebastián, Spain, sharing insightful experiences into the unique history, politics, and culture of the Basque Country — and all with a focus on FOOD and DRINK!
Not only is Gregory at the helm of Basque Bites creating tours and experiences, he also works as a private culinary consultant, a food festival producer and as a culinary professor for the city of San Sebastián’s Department of Culture.
Gregory is also very active in the local wine community, frequenting tastings with all the local distributors and purveyors. Each year he takes advantage of the harvest to make his own batch of natural and organic wines which, if you’re lucky, he might just pour at an event or tasting.
